ACR Homes Supports Special Olympics Of Minnesota Through The Polar Plunge

At ACR Homes, we are dedicated to making a difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities, whether it be in our 40+ Twin Cities based group homes or out in the communities. Our mission extends far beyond the walls of our homes. Recently, employees Austin Morrow (ACR Homes Recruiter) and Rachael Oswald (ACR Homes Direct Care Professional), along with a friend Holly Wolf (Sanford Hospital RN) had the incredible opportunity to participate in the Polar Plunge to help fundraise for the Special Olympics of Minnesota—a year round sports training program with a special summer games event allowing athletes with disabilities to showcase their talents and compete in sports they love from basketball, to swimming, and more.
To represent ACR Homes, Austin Morrow assembled a small but mighty team of three participants who were eager to take the icy plunge for a great cause. Together, they raised an impressive $450 to support the Special Olympics of Minnesota, helping to provide resources, training, and opportunities for the amazing athletes.
Going above and beyond to serve individuals with disabilities in Minnesota, our very own Rachael Oswald, a dedicated Direct Care Professional at ACR, not only participated in the plunge but also volunteered her time assisting the Polar Plunge team on the morning of the event. Her commitment to making a difference embodies the heart of ACR Homes, where we strive to support individuals with disabilities in every way possible.
What made this event even more special was knowing that several residents at ACR Homes are currently participating in or have participated in the Special Olympics of Minnesota. Watching them train, grow in strength and confidence, compete, and then excel in their respective sports is truly inspiring. It was a rewarding experience to help fundraise for an organization that gives them recognition and a platform to shine on.
Looking ahead, Austin Morrow is thrilled to be attending the Minnesota Special Olympics in Stillwater, MN this summer with ACR Homes. Our booth will be there to cheer on all of the incredible athletes and share more about our group homes and job opportunities with others who are passionate about supporting individuals with disabilities.
Doing the Polar Plunge was not just about braving the cold and doing something adventurous—it was about showing up for our community, making a positive impact, and continuing ACR's commitment to empowering people with disabilities living in Minnesota. Upon reflection of the experience, Austin shared, "I'm grateful to have participated in this event and can’t wait for more opportunities to support the amazing athletes of the Special Olympics of Minnesota!"
